Bishop Shawn Lewis, Sr., a native of Waverly, VA, graduated with honors from Sussex Central High School in 1989. He is the senior pastor and visionary of RHEMA WORD MINISTRIES located in the city of Petersburg, VA. He is a humble and ordinary servant of God with an extraordinary heart for people.

Upon graduating from high school, Shawn worked various local jobs in the town of Waverly. In August of 1990, he joined the United States Navy where he was stationed at Norfolk Naval Base, in Norfolk, VA, and later at Pensacola Naval Air Station, in Pensacola, FL.

On January 18th of 1998, while stationed in Pensacola, FL, Shawn accepted his call to the ministry under the auspices and tutelage of Pastor Eddie M. Layne. Upon departure from the Navy, in July of 1998, Shawn moved back to Virginia and began serving as an elder and the youth pastor at the Rose of Sharon Apostolic Church in Waverly, VA under the leadership of Bishop Tyrone Harper, Sr. As a result of the anointed teaching and preaching of this vessel, many lives have been blessed, encouraged, inspired, and delivered through the powerful Word of God. Bishop Lewis’ sole desire is to help people reach their ultimate potential spiritually by teaching them “Who They Are” and “Whose They Are.”On July 24, 2009, Bishop Lewis received a vision from the Lord that directed him to find his place in ministry and to birth RHEMA WORD MINISTRIES where “There Is A Word From The Lord.” On November 1st, 2009, he was installed and set apart as the pastor of Rhema Word Ministries. On Sunday, September 16th, 2012, he was designated by Bishop Tyrone Harper as a bishop in the Rose of Sharon Churches. On Saturday, August 10th, 2013, he was consecrated to the Episcopal office of Bishop in the Lord’s church.Bishop Lewis serves in ministry along with his wife of 25 years, Shelley Newby Lewis. Together they have one son, Shawn Lewis II. He is the son of Julia L. and the late Henry W. Lewis, Sr.Being commissioned by the Lord to speak into the lives of his people, Bishop Lewis seeks to fulfill this God-given assignment by impacting this generation with the Word of God until the kingdoms of this world become the kingdom of our Lord and his Christ.
